If you live in the UK you may have seen the John Lewis Christmas TV advert; the animated tale of a bear and a hare. The windows carry the same theme with animals made out of household products. A clever way to create windows that are all about the product, but in a very creative way.

It has been 30 years since the last royal wedding in England, so it is definitely a unique event. Prince William and Kate Middleton are to marry tomorrow, and here in London it really shows. There is bunting everywhere from streets to front doors of homes and people dressed in blue, red and white. Â
The wedding offers a welcome commercial opportunity to shops pushing their home wears, fashions and souvenirs. It is also a celebration of all things British. Most windows featured here will have Union Jack flags in them one way or another.
Liberty of London and the classic Mini.
John Lewis, Oxford Street prepared its customers for the perfect summer party.
Bentalls, Kingston based its windows around typically British themes such as the street party and the summer festival.
Bhs, Oxford Street take this event as a great opportunity to promote their affordable wedding dresses.
A whole lot of bunting at Accesorize.

Warehouse (top) and River Island both cater for fashion conscious street parties.

John Lewis welcomes you to attend a winters festival: the scheme is colourful and inspired by Christmas markets. Most of the windows feature colourful disks on the back wall, snow on the ground and colourful stacks of presents. The toy window (below) has a gift unit with present inserts and a revolving skater girl.

At the time of London Fashion Week , which is now, quite a few stores use this time to promote their fashion in their windows. I did see some really good ones, but last autumn was so much better with Zara doing backstage scenes, and so did Debenhams. Instead the shops want you to see the actual shows: TopShop is showing their catwalk show live on a large screen in their Oxford Circus store windows, and Burberry were advertising their website for live coverage.
KG, Regent Street. I had to show you these first because they are so funny, and a great idea for a shoe display. Suits Fashion Week because it gives me the feeling of the buzz in shows that general public can’t see. I saw something similar in Saatchi Gallery a month ago where lots of legs were showing on the bottom of a large pile of clothes. It might still be there so go and have a look.
