Swimwear in contrasting brights meets pastel sets and mannequins in these Harvey Nichols’ 2012 resort windows. The painterly effect on the background creates a dreamy mood and I especially like the fluorescent lighting effects. The use of colour is the main talking point for me: purples and yellows create great contrast, whereas the pastels are calming and make the brights stand out.

Harvey Nichols seems to have gone back to ice age with their 2011 Christmas windows. At first glance this series of windows reminds me of those of Harrods’ Crystal Christmas windows. The use of cheap materials such as cling film, bubble wrap and polystyrene proves otherwise. The look is very artistic and thrown together with an unfinished feel. With the current economic climate in mind, there is no better time to do a Christmas like this.

I was seriously excited to find these, dare I say kinky, maids- windows. Miniature maid figures stand by loyally next to a LV classic bag, and life-size mannequin stands still holding a feather duster. These windows are visually fascinating, and are guaranteed to create a desire to buy!

Harvey Nichols never fail to surprise me with their imaginative displays. I couldn’t get my camera out quicker to capture these Dali-esque surreal windows. I find them hard to describe, they’re just plain crazy. So what I will do – I will let my photos do the talking.

The New York metropolitan Museum are paying a tribute to british designer Alexander McQueen with exhibition titled ‘Savage Beauty’. It features creations from various collection down the years. Harvey Nichols were chosen to support the exhibition with their windows. The results are very simple yet effective placing all the attention on the garments themselves. The chosen mannequins are simply black and white, with strong poses. Simple white curtains hang as the back drops.

This dress and the piece underneath are both from the collection It’s Only A Game in S/S 2005.
This gorgeaus gown is from the La Dame Bleue collection in S/S 2008.
This dress I love so much, it’s from a more recent S/S 2010 collection Platos’s Atlantis.

Liberty of London, Great Marlborough St, London
Liberty of London go bananas with these funky, country life inspired windows. Back walls are painted sky blue, and hay stacks stand as props to a mix of denim, flower prints and girly pinks that are seeing on the mannequins. I’m loving the fruity props and mishmash of the fashions.

Bright, block colour is a major fashion trend this summer. Retailers are utilising on this trend to grab our attention. The stores have not just presenting their bright fashion in the windows, it’s in the window schemes themselves. Bright stock against bright background but also combined with white. Although this trend is mostly about mixing different block coloured together – I have thrown in some bright print windows as well.
Burberry, Brompton Road. Like the concept with the bags and the coloured acrylic, but the stock on the mannequins is a styling mistake..
Louis Vuitton, Sloane Street summer travel themed windows are deliciously coloured. Love the keys in the background.
Prada, Bond Street opted for an orange backdrop for their colourful accessories.
Zara TRF, Oxford Street mix up the coloured fashion with white and trow in some cool bright wigs.
I can’t remember who this is at all (terrible I know..), but nice use of mixing the bright prints with white.

Stella McCartney, Bruton Street. Fruit patterns are a key print in Stella’s summer collection. definitely fresh, but not sure if you would catch me wearing something like this..

These windows are simple, but effective with plain white walls and floors. Scaffolding like white and coloured tubes and fluorescent lights criss-cross within the large open space. Wires and extension leads are left unhidden to be part of the composition. Mannequins are positioned leaning and resting on them. They wear SS 11 collections mainly in block colours of beige, black and yellow. Sharp angles of the tubes also repeat in the headpieces. Cold shades of blue in the make-up and sharp structured wigs suit the theme well.

Liberty are in the mood for spring as they revealed their Spring/Summer women’s fashion windows. As they say: “Out with winters heavy layers and in with the clean and minimalistic silhouettes of spring.” It features designers such as Acne and Givenchy. Crochet masks make the styling of the mannequins stand out. Colours are kept simple; reds, tan, beige and black. The clean lines as well as the colours of the fashions repeat themselves in the backdrops as wooden panels, curtains or coloured inserts. I like the colours very much and the windows give me a sophisticated 70s feel.
There is a great harmony in this composition of the mannequin and her clothing together with horizontal and vertical lines of the background.
I like the way the mannequin’s pose is in contrast with the diagonal lines of the background panels.

First of all: Merry Christmas everyone! The reoccurring themes this Christmas have been the colour white and snowy scenery, as well as using the colour red. Perhaps the snow we had last year inspired the look of the festive windows this year. And how appropriate it was with all the snow again this winter. Here I look at what the high street retailers created for their shoppers, I say created because most of these windows don’t appear on the streets no more as it is, once again, sale time.
TopShop, Oxford street Christmas windows have a lovely colour scheme of whites, silvers and camels. Brilliantly styled fashion window! Loving the mannequins inside the bauble..
Debenhams, Oxford street would like you to dream of perfect presents. Snow on the ground and large lit snowflakes are the key features in these fashion windows.
Gap, Oxford Street. The white snowy look is contrasted with red glittery presents.
Guess, Regent street.
Miss Selfridge, Oxford Street.
New Look, Oxford Street.
Next, Oxford Street. I like the use of paper snowflakes here. They remind me of my childhood
